Question of the Day: 4/10 …
Jerome Williams or Garret Richards for 5th starter? — @tupelorob
My gut (and that’s really all it is) is that Williams will get the ball at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, if all goes well with his final rehab start on Tuesday. It’s not because he has a better arm or has more upside than Garrett. It’s for two reasons: 1. He pitched well down the stretch last season and deserves to get the first crack; 2. he’s out of options, and considering the amount of teams constantly searching for starting pitching, it’d be hard to see him slip through waivers if he shows he’s healthy (especially since he’s making less than $1M this season). This would be the perfect time for the Angels to give Richards some useful experience at Triple-A and maintain some of that organizational pitching depth that’s so vital to GM Jerry Dipoto.
