Game 1: Angels-Athletics …

Bobby Abreu was originally in the lineup, batting sixth as the designated hitter, but he won’t home sick and Hank Conger took his place. Here’s the rest of the lineup for the Angels’ Cactus League opener at Phoenix Municipal Stadium …

Some notes from our morning session with manager Mike Scioscia

  • Is this the lineup Scioscia prefers? Well, that plus Kendrys Morales and Mark Trumbo. Sciosica talked about seeing a lot of Aybar-Kendrick in the 1-2 spots, and Pujols-Morales-Hunter in the middle of the order.
  • Big week for Morales. He’ll be running the bases on the infield dirt today, but not actually touching the bag, and then they’re hoping to add the bases by the middle of the week. If he gets through that OK, he’ll be playing in games next week.
  • The Angels hope Trumbo, who stayed back to also run the bases, will be playing third base in Spring Training games by the end of the week.
  • Former Angels first baseman Don Mincher passed away

Some reading material from Sunday …

Hi Alden,
Looking forward to your blogs this season. Just one thing… That “A” is not the Angels logo anymore. You have it at the top of the page though.

Alden no Trout yesterday??
